Terms of use and sale
Last updated 31 October 2026.
1. Who you are dealing with
Tagnator is the trading name of Nathan Jones, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. Postal address: The Crosse House, Balls Farm Road, Exeter, EX2 9HZ, United Kingdom. Email support@tagnator.com. These terms apply when you use our software, our website or our free tools, or buy something from us. If you are buying for a business, you confirm you have authority to agree to these terms for it.
2. Software supplied through marketplaces
Markdown Mode for Jira is distributed and billed by Atlassian through the Atlassian Marketplace. EAA Ready is distributed through WordPress.org, with Pro licences sold and billed by Freemius as merchant of record. Fair Price Check is distributed and billed by Shopify through the Shopify App Store.
For those products, the marketplace's own terms govern your purchase, subscription, billing, taxes, trials and refunds, and the marketplace is your seller for payment purposes. These terms govern your use of the software itself. If the two conflict on a point about payment, the marketplace terms win; on a point about how you may use the software, these terms win.
3. Your licence to use our software
We give you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use our software for your own business, on the sites or stores your subscription covers, for as long as your subscription or licence is valid. You may not resell it, offer it as a service to third parties, remove notices from it, or try to work around licence checks. Where a product is released under an open-source licence, such as the GPL for WordPress plugins, that licence applies to the code and is not restricted by this section.
Our software may be updated automatically through the marketplace. We may change or remove features, and we will give reasonable notice of any change that removes something you pay for.
4. Free tools
Esc Tools (UK invoice generator and calculators) and the free tiers of our marketplace products are provided free of charge. We work to keep them accurate and available, but they are provided as they are, without a promise of availability or fitness for a particular purpose, except where the law does not let us say that. You are responsible for checking any invoice, calculation or output before you rely on it.
5. Digital downloads
The NIS2 Small-Entity Compliance Kit and any other download is sold through Polar, our merchant of record. Polar takes your payment, issues the invoice and handles VAT. Once your payment is confirmed you receive a download link by email. The kit is licensed to one organisation. You may copy and adapt the documents for that organisation's internal use. You may not resell the kit, publish it, or use it to provide templates to other organisations as a product or service.
6. Cancellation and refunds
Marketplace subscriptions. Cancel through the marketplace at any time. Refunds follow the marketplace's policy, which we honour. If you believe a refund is due and the marketplace has not provided it, email us and we will help.
Digital downloads. If you are a consumer in the UK or EU you normally have 14 days to cancel a distance purchase. Because the kit is digital content supplied straight away, by asking us to make the download available before the 14 days are up you agree that you lose that right to cancel once the download begins. This does not affect your rights if the content is faulty, is not as described, or does not do what we said it would. In those cases email us within 30 days and we will fix it, replace it or refund you.
Business customers. The consumer cancellation right does not apply to business purchases, but the same remedies for faulty or misdescribed products do.
7. Not legal or professional advice
Fair Price Check, EAA Ready, the compliance kit and the free tools help you understand and work towards legal requirements. They are not legal advice, they do not guarantee compliance, and they do not replace a qualified adviser, a regulator's guidance or your own judgement. Law changes, and interpretations differ between regulators and countries. Where we state a rule or a date, we give our source so that you can check it.
8. Acceptable use
Do not use our products to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, to attack or overload any system, or to process data you are not entitled to process. Do not attempt to gain access to other customers' data or to our systems beyond what the product is designed to give you. We may suspend access where we reasonably believe these rules are being broken.
9. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law. Nor does anything here take away rights you have as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or equivalent law where you live.
Subject to that, we are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable when you started using the product, for business losses such as lost profit, lost data or business interruption, or for losses caused by you failing to follow our documentation or by changes to a third-party platform. For paid products our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us, through the marketplace or Polar, for that product in that period. For free products our total liability is limited to £100, except where the law requires more.
You are responsible for keeping your own backups and for checking outputs before relying on them.
10. Changes and ending the service
We may update these terms. The date at the top tells you when. If a change materially reduces your rights we will notify you through the marketplace or by email at least 30 days before it takes effect, and you may cancel before then. We may withdraw a product from sale with at least 90 days' notice to current subscribers, during which the product keeps working.
11. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you also have the protection of the mandatory consumer laws where you live, and you may bring a claim in your local courts. Otherwise the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If something goes wrong, please email us first; most problems are fixed within a few days.
